We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. i like maori art a lot and try to incorperate it into my own work, so i can appreiciate all the more...

Yes it is Maori and called Kiri Tuhi (Compared to a Moko).
It is (so they say) an intrusion into the Maori culture if you have these placed by a non Maori ... but then again .. I feel that by adopting this style you don't show disrespect but you show great respect for their culture.
Just make sure you don't copy a design but create your own design using the style ....
Anyway .. Love it !
